Former cabinet minister Margaret Beckett has taken up a new position at Wookey Hole. The tourist attraction in Somerset was looking for a new resident witch. "Obviously Mrs Beckett comes highly recommended and it's going to save on the make up" said Hole manager Eldine Baptiste.
For Beckett the role is ideal. The salary of £50,000 pro rata means that she will only be working part time. She will be able to live in the cave during work periods and then spend the rest of her time in her caravan. It is thought that Beckett will also be claiming an allowance whilst living in the cave.
Beckett's appointment could lead to a rush of similar appointments. Already John Prescott is in negotiations with the management of Melton Mowbray's Pie World.
Gordon Broon is delighted. "I've wanted to see Margaret's Wookey Hole for years."
