Drunken daft bastard Nobby Cartwright, a Manchester United fan will have a great deal to live down ahead of the Champions League Final here in Rome today after queueing up for tickets outside 2000 year old amphitheatre, the Colosseum.
"We tried to tell him," a friend of Cartwright's told us. "But he wouldn't have any of it. He was as pissed as a fart and he was hoping to get a ticket for the match. The daft bastard."
Cartwright, 32 of Ramsbottom, Lancs., was approached by a member of the Carabinieri and told to move on. Initially, Cartwright protested and looked like he was about to make a big deal out of it, but after the police officer showed him his big shiny gun, Cartwright became effusively cooperative.
He later told us that he'd settle for watching the match on TV in a bar, and commented that the stadium was shit anyway and looked a bit ramshackle.
His mates promised to mercilessly take the piss for not less than 25 years.
