Nelly, welcome back

In a move which has angered animal rights activists Nelly the Elephant returned to the Big Top tonight.

Twenty years ago Nelly packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus. She was answering a call made by the head of the herd, far far away. However, ivory poachers have slaughtered the rest of the herd. So Nelly retraced her steps along the road from Mandalay, and arrived back at her one time home.

Animal rights activists accused the circus of exploiting Nelly in her hour of need. "It sickens me, it really does-although that maybe the dinner I had in Huston Bummitall's restaurant earlier" said Dr D Oolittle, "I talked to the animals. The lions said 'roar', the horses said 'neigh' and my psychiatrist said 'increase the dosage'".

Nelly is saddened by the controversy. She just wants a roof over her head and as many buns as she can eat. No wonder John Prescott applied for the job when Nelly left.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
