Anne Arundel County Police in Maryland said a man and his parents assaulted and tried to stab police officers when they responded to a report of the family arguing.
Police said a 20-year-old son and his parents were arguing in a car around 11 a.m. Sunday and when officers approached the car, police said the son jumped out and assaulted the officers with a pocket knife.
After police arrested him and two more officers arrived, police said the father pulled out a butcher knife and tried to stab an officer.
Police then drew their weapons and the father laid the knife down. But police said the mother tried to grab the knife before assaulting the fourth officer with a jackknife.
Next a passing drunk saw what was happening and tried to stab an officer with a broken beer bottle.
Three boyscouts, hearing the woman screaming, then tried to come to the woman's rescue while bearing scissors from their sewing kits.
After finally beating off an old lady carrying a nail file, the son and mother were charged with assault while the father was charged with attempted murder and assault.
