Sussex - The 102 pound mirror carp that was 'caught' by 82 year old William Fuller has been discovered to be a catch not worthy of the world record.
Yes, the monster fish did actually weigh in at 102 pounds, but it was not caught at Swanham Fisheries in Sussex as William had claimed.
It had in fact come from the large pond in his garden. Fuller admitted that he had been nurturing his 'baby' for the past fifty one years. "I thought it might be good to pretend I had caught it at my local fishery" he sheepishly admitted. He explained that he had transported him in an old bathtub under cover of darkness.
The owner of the fishery, Ted Bailey, was unavailable for comment.
The current world record stands at 88lbs 6oz.
As for 'Baby'? He is back in his pond at the moment but interest in him has been expressed by a local zoo.
