Trowbridge, Wilts - (ReUterus): A woman who put all her eggs in one basket has lost her only chance of maternity after a European Court of Inhuman Rites appeal failed to get her fertilised embryos out of the deep freeze.
Natalie Evans and a former boyfriend, Howard Johnston, underwent IVF treatment ahead of ovarian cancer therapy which left her infertile.
But when the couple's relationship got scrambled Evans failed to get UK legal backing to have a baby using the embryos as Johnson changed his mind about becoming a father.
Five years of legal wrangling in the UK courts produced nothing apart from a hard-boiled refusal to let Evans conceive without her ex's consent.
Evans, 35, then took her appeal to the Grand Chamber of the European Court which ruled today that the fertilised eggs, like Evans's legal arguments, were well past their sell by.
A spokesman for the British Embryo Futility Authority said they would be abiding by the Court's ruling and would be eggstra careful with future cases.
