Housewives from all over Britain were panic buying yesterday as Sony announced that stocks of their new 'Vibro-phone' were depleting at an alarming rate.

The 'Vibro-phone', which has a 'pulsating' capacity five times that of a spin dryer, has been a surprise hit for the Japanese electronics company and sales have now exceeded 12 million in England alone.

A spokesman for Dicksons, the large badly managed electronic retail firm, told us, "It's been absolutely mental! Women fighting with each other, just to get their hands on the phone."

It is unknown why the product, shaped like a large sausage which rapidly vibrates when anyone rings, should be so popular.

Top design specialist, Professor J. Caringbunny, however believes that it is to do with the sleek and futuristic design.

"If I know women," said Professor Caringbunny, "And I believe I do, it is so popular because of it's simplistic aerodynamic design and because it is so easy to use."

Design Engineer, Bob Slackbladder agreed, "Women find simple things easier to use, bless 'em." he said.

We asked Mrs Doris Fannygap, who had just bought a 'Vibro-phone' her opinion but we couldn't get any sense out of her.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
