First it was video that died a death; killed off by DVD. But anybody about to invest in the latest DVD technology...Forget it. Because the new technology that's doing the rounds is 3D Holography.
Brian Spivarse, from Manchester, has claimed that him and his mate, Phil Likelylad, have made the first domestic holographic receiver and that it's gonna be big big big! Brian told us:
"Just imagine Cameron Diaz and Maria Sharapova, almost live, in your front room, or for the ladies, what about watching Brad Pitt acting out his latest blockbuster movie in your bay window?
Well now it's a reality with the Philbri Holographer 3000. It's a revolution in your living room!" smiles Brian.
He offered to give us a practical demonstration of the amazing bit of kit and wheeled it into his mum's front room, where we were conducting our interview. It looked to us a bit like an old fashioned TV in all honesty.
Anyhow Brian then told us that due to the BBC and Sky TV being sceptical about the machines' capabilities, that there were no programmes being broadcast, or indeed made, in what he calls "Philbri Holovision. They just don't want to make the investment in the technology," he sighs.
"Eh but honest mate, if there were any then you'd be totally blown away man!" said a rather shifty looking Phil, co-inventor of the technology.
A spokesman for the BBC said: "Oh yeah? I doubt that!"
In the end we just watched an old episode of Minder and it looked just like normal TV. The Philbri Holographer 3000 is available at a dodgy Sunday market near you and costs £4500.
