President Putin of Russia has vehemently denied that he knew anything about Jimmy Saville's activities in the Kremlin when he was hosting 'Top of the Pops'.
Our man in Moscow, Jonathon Weasel, tells us that the authorities maintain that lower ranks within the KGB never passed on their knowledge of the sex abusing by Saville in Rooms 101 - 132 (inclusive) over a five year period.
The line from Moscow is that Saville was regarded with favour because, at least he wasn't queer like members of MI5.
The BBC correspondent in Russia has described as 'ridiculous' the suggestion that people within the Kremlin did not pass on information about Saville's rapes and sex assaults of young girls to higher authorities.
