The BBC has released a picture of EastEnders' Ian Beale looking a little worse for wear on the streets of Walford following his nightmarish transformation into a Victoria sponge cake.
The café owner heartthrob disappeared from Albert Square last month after suffering a breakdown brought on by the realisation of his futile existence in soapland.
Rumours spread that Beale had become cake-like and this new picture appears to confirm this - a spongy Ian is seen looking pensive as raspberry jam and cream are sandwiched between his upper and lower halves.
It is unknown yet whether his return as cake will see him spotted by another character or if he will reach out for help from the Square's residents.
EastEnders scriptwriters have worked closely with cake charities on the plot thread, in the hope of portraying cake transformation issues fairly and accurately.
Adam Woodyatt, who plays Beale, said he was 'overwhelmed' by the response to the new storyline from fans.
