Local tramp and wino Solomon McGeachy today paid a surprise visit to British personnel stationed at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
Arriving in secret and in the middle of the night, Solomon flew into the country on a morale boosting visit.
The bearded alcoholic homeless drifter joined over 1000 soldiers, sailors and airmen in Helmand Province as they prepared to tuck into a Sunday roast and was greeted with spontaneous applause as he staggered into the food hall.
In a later speech to British troops Solomon thanked them for their efforts in defeating the Taliban and then went on to meet the head of state Hamid Karzi.
