Scotland's Kenny Miller has provoked a race row after suggesting that referee Mark Whitby disallowed a penalty claim and also booked the striker in Sunday's Carling Nations Cup fixture because he's Scottish.
The former Rangers forward was incensed when his claim was disallowed after he was clearly tugged in the box by Republic of Ireland midfielder Steven Hunt and felt even more hard done by when he was shown a yellow card for over protesting.
Miller explained : "I was mad at the ref when he didn't award a penalty and, when I asked him why, he just laughed and said 'No can do, Jock. He disrespected me and I wouldn't be surprised if he said no purely on account of my nationality.
"I want to take the matter further".
Scotland manager Craig Levein would not comment.
