European Champions League winner Lionel Messi took time out from Barcelona's celebrations last night to explain the relentless pace of the scintillating final at Wembley.
Barca ran out worthy 3-1 winners with goals by Pedrito, Messi and Villa. Rooney gave United fans hope with a cracking strike in the first half to level Pedrito's strike, but the second half belonged to Barca.
The pace of the game was surprisingly fast from the kick-off and there was no sign of the caginess and playing-it-square across the back of many other international finals.
Barca star, Messi, explained: "Ees, er, difficult for us coming from Espagna. We come to London... ees supposed to be spring but ees blooding freezing! We, er, need run about much for keeping warm!
"Why ees so blooding colds?"
