In 1995, eminent American sex psychologist Burt Inglebrat wrote the award winning "Five Minutes Of Pleasure : A Lifetime of Commitment, a treatise on how a brief carnal event can lead to decades of maternal or paternal responsibility.
Inglebrat has been living in the UK for the last 6 years and has been fascinated by the parallels between the sexual act and the great game.
The psychologist has adapted his famous essay to the UK's favourite pastime and in the summer of 2011 will bring out his latest work "One Minute of Pleasure : A Lifetime of Disappointment", his take on the ups and downs of being a football fan.
Inglebrat compares the rush of orgasm with the euphoria of ball hitting the back of the net, but also emphasises the similarities between the lifelong toil of parenthood and the blood, sweat and tears spent supporting your team.
The psychologist's next project will see Inglebrat taking the subject of sexual climax and applying it to the sport of golf.
"In The Hole" will be available from all good book shops in spring 2012.
