Four Manchester City stars have been fined for the same driving offence.
Police swooped on the Blues' training ground last week and issued £30 fixed penalty notices to Kolo Toure, Patrick Viera, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Shay Given after observing that their vehicles' tinted windows were too dark.
Officers expressed concern that the players' driving abilities might have been compromised.
This is not the first time football related individuals have fallen foul of such regulations. Since 1975, 62 Scottish referees and 35 assistant referees have been given suspended sentences after being found guilty of wearing emerald green and royal blue tinted glasses.
