Sources close to Manchester United and England striker, Wayne Rooney claim that he has largely dismissed a Sun newspaper article attributed to Kevin Keeegan, which claimed that his confidence was 'shot.'
Keegan, the former Liverpool and Hamburg player, Newcastle, Manchester City, and England manager expressed his opinion of Rooney in today's article after the striker's 61st minute substitution at Bolton on Sunday, which Mike Phelan described as 'tactical.'
"Keegan describing Wazza as 'shot' is hypocrisy of the highest order," one source told us. "Coming from the man who went into meltdown on live TV, who has bottled just about every job he ever had - including the England job, and who once got twatted with a baseball bat as he slept in his car, that's rich, that is."
Another source quipped:
"I reckon Keegan's problems date back to that fucking stupid bubble-perm he had in the seventies. It seems to have affected his brain somehow."
We here at Skoob Sports News tried to contact Kevin Keegan for his side of the story, but were told that he was unavailable, and probably talking to some plants in a greenhouse somewhere. About grouting. Or something...
More as we get it.
