Paris Hilton and her entourage were taken into custody when a vuvuzela Hilton was carrying started to smoke and the smell of marijuana emanated from within the horn. Upon seeing the stadium police approach, Hilton passed the makeshift bong to her personal photographer who proceeded to take a hit, unaware they were about to be arrested.
"We're seeing more and more of these makeshift bongs," said a police spokesperson. "If they are retrofitted correctly with a bowl placed within the fluted edge of the horn, it makes a powerful hitter, and with so many vuvuzelas in the stands, the vuvuzels being used to smoke marijuana are quite difficult to spot."
After briefly being detained, the police determined that Hilton was not at fault and ticketed her photographer for possessing marijuana paraphernalia. Hilton and her buddies were released and allowed to re-enter the stadium sans vuvuzelas.
Not long after their release, Hilton was spotted taking a hit off a World Cup replica trophy also retrofitted for use as a bong, which she pulled out of her over-sized Louis Vuitton shoulder bag.
