Robben Island, South African World Cup: In a story reminiscent of the ''Smithy'' sketch performed by James Corden, in which the comedian tries to encourage the England players, Pavlos Joseph, 32, from Crystal Palace, south-east London, is staying at Nelson Mandelas' Pleasure (NMP) in his old cell prison cell at Robben Island!! Friends said Pavlos Joseph burst into tears when he was put in the cell, where Nelson Mandela had been incarcerated on Robben Island.
Pavlos Joseph, a life-long England and Manchester United supporter, was looking for a toilet after the game against Algeria when a security guard sent him in the direction of the players' tunnel. After taking a wrong turn he found himself in the changing room where he says he told David Beckham: ''David, we've spent a lot of money getting here. This is a disgrace. What are you going to do about it?''
David Beckham then continues the story, ''The actual fan literally just walked in very casually and just said something to me and then walked out - there was no scuffle, there was no aggression at all.''
Pavlos Joseph, then says Beckham asked him who he was, he responded: ''I'm Pavlos and I actually need the toilet.'' Pavlos Joseph then addressed the England players, who were sitting on benches with towels around their waists. "That was woeful and not good enough". The room was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. The players' chins were on their chests - they looked pretty ashamed. Then a FIFA Official led Pavlos Joseph out of the England changing rooms to the toilet."
Pavlos Joseph, 32, the surrendered to the South African Police only if they promised he would not be beaten up. Police picked him up from his luxury hotel in Camps Bay and took him to a local police station. was questioned for almost five hours.
Pavlos Joseph was then taken in handcuffs to a special World Cup Court in Cape Town, which were set up to deal with crimes relating to the tournament, after being charged with two counts of trespassing. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of six months in prison or an unlimited fine. Pavlos Joseph could be jail in Nelson Mandelas' Jail on Robben Island for a year, all for spending a penny and a few thousand pounds getting there to support England.
Pavlos Joseph was then bailed after appearing in court in Cape Town charged with trespassing. South African Police Service spokeswoman Brigadier Sally de Beer said he was released on 500 rand bail and banned from future World Cup matches.
Nelson Mandela will now be appearing at pop concerts singing and shouting the song, Free Pavlos Joseph, Free Nelson Mandela, Free Pavlos Joseph…
