Football chiefs this morning agreed to join in the drive for greater brevity in all things by re-introducing short shorts of the type worn in the 1980's by soccer stars like Glenn Hoddle and Bryan Robson.

One leading Premiership manager said that he was all in favour of the move to have leading players wear tiny skin-tight shorts like they did in the 80's because everything appears to be getting shorter these days, and besides, short shorts were a sexier proposition for female football fans with limited attention spans.

Even if they do strangle the overpaid prima-donna's bollocks and get stuck up their arse cracks.

More or less as we get it.
