Stockport Train Station has this morning announced a record number of ticket cancellations for journeys to London on Sunday 28th February, the number of tickets is believed to be in thousands. Astonishingly, all the tickets were purchased between 10.30pm on Tuesday 19th January and the following morning.
An official for Stockport Train station announced that it must have been "some sort of joke - why would anybody book a ticket for a journey they were never going to travel, its stupid, just stupid".
On a more positive note, Manchester Piccadilly announced that over 20,000 tickets had been sold for that very same day, an official commented that this is nothing out of the ordinary, "This volume of sales is not unusual at this time of year, its been the same for over 30 years in fact. May has also been a traditionally good month for our sales".
