On the day after the BCS Title Game, Southern Cal head coach Pete Carroll announced that he is resigning his position to take the same job with the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. The USC coach has been to BCS games seven of the previous eight seasons and his resignation comes as a shock and surprise to his fans, players, and co-workers.
When asked why he was leaving a successful program to go to the Seattle Seahawks, Carroll said that there were a couple of reasons:
"First, I know that there are a lot more Starbuck's in Seattle and it will be easier for me to get a cup of coffee."
"Second, I sucked the first two times I coached at the professional level and want to prove to everyone that I can do it."
"Third, well, it's still mostly about the coffee!"
