It was a new but welcome experience for Dale Earnhardt Junior as he looked at the number of reporters about them, because all the questions were aimed at NASCAR driver Danica Patrick!
"It's true that I didn't get too many questions up there," Earnhardt Jr. observed afterward. "But I'm just happy that Danica is joining the team."
Then it's true, Danica Patrick, a figure who transcends motorsports is making a foray into NASCAR for the first time Danica Patrick and has joined the Earnhardt race team.
Earnhardt reported that Patrick will drive in up to a dozen Nationwide Series races for the JR Motorsports team he co-owns, beginning next season.
"We need her. Our company wants this," he said. "Bringing in Danica was a no-brainer for us. I was hoping we would have that opportunity because it's such a strong hit for your program. The lady believes that she can win every time she gets out there. She's proven herself to be a topnotch driver, and it doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes when not in the cockpit."
I guess we've come a long way from saying that there are "too many women drivers on the road", that was often heard during the Neanderthal years.
