In what could be considered an able pitting of wits, at least according to Danica Patrick, the Indy 500 racer beat F1 driver Lewis Shamilton at his own game.
In the much-hyped 'challenge' set in the magnificent track of Monaco, Patrick clocked 01:19:51.708 to finish ahead of Shamilton by a lead of 35 seconds on a clear, sunny day.
It all started two weeks back when Patrick told bemusedly to a big crowd after the Monaco Grand Prix, 'Oh, did Lewis win the race? Come off it, you're not fooling anyone.' When it was proved to her, courtesy live records, the Internet, and other such wonderful things invented by science, Patrick replied unabashedly, 'Shamilton drives like such a woman. I could take him on any day. Hell, I could take him on when I was drunk and believe me, I am hardly in my senses when I am (drunk).'
However, she did not arrive drunk, but proved her point all the same. Shamilton had accepted the challenge with grit and confidence (over-confidence, in fact), but in the end, confirmed Patrick's doubt as to who actually was the loser.
