Group G is officially the World Cup 'Group Of Death' matching up Brazil, North Korea, Cote D'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and Portugal.
Brazil v Portugal promises to be interesting, because although both countries share a common language, there is little love lost between them. The Portuguese regard the inventors of the Brazilian Wax as a bunch of cocky new world upstarts who talk a bit funny, and the Brazilians still hate the Portuguese for kicking Pele off the park when they played at Goodison Park in 1966.
Indeed, the last time the two met in a 'friendly' there were several outbursts of 'handbags.'
Ivory Coast are no slouches either. Spearheaded by Chelsea striker Didier "Red Laces" Drogba, they are strongly fancied to to well in the competition.
Either Kaka and crew, or Ronaldo's mob could well find themselves eliminated at the group stage.
North Korea constitute the weakest link in the group. In their last few appearances they have looked jaded. Probably from too much marching about and singing love songs non-stop to their glorious leader.
Hmmm. Interesting.
More as we get it.
