Terry Thomas - Job Done

Merseyside - Last night. It looked like business as usual for the red half of Merseyside when Fernando Torres put Liverpool ahead after six minutes in the Champions League quarter final first leg.

Liverpool, who have recently been kidding themselves that they are true title contenders and potential European champions, proceeded to sit back and rely on zonal marking.

It must be said that an air of smug superiority hung over the hovel aka Anfield like an LA smog.

But a certain Serbian defender, Ivanovic responded with a fine brace before Didier Drogba finished the job off. 3-1 to Chelsea in the bin dippers' back yard.

To really rub salt into the wound, jubilant Chelsea fans, not previously renowned for being possessed of a robust sense of humour, chanted at a silent kop:

"Where's your famous atmosphere?" to the tune of the Welsh classic 'Rock Of Ages.'

Manchester United fan, Jimbo Black refused to comment from his padded cell in HMP Strangeways.

He was later spotted allegedly sporting a wry smile.

More as we get it.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
