The England cricket team looked to put their humiliating innings and 23 runs defeat at the hands of the West Indies behind them in Antigua today, as they clobbered the home side's bowling attack all around the Antigua Recreation Ground, and were 271 for 1 at tea.
They were helped in their task, however, when the West Indians chose to come out to play dressed in flip flops rather than cricket boots.
The footwear change came after last week's aborted second Test effort at the St Vivian Richards Arena, when the game was abandoned after just 10 balls had been bowled, after the outfield was discovered to have been built on a beach.
West Indies captain Chris Gayle told reporters before the match:
"Our bowlers need to know they will be able to keep their footing today."
England captain Andrew strauss raced to his 15th Test century, ably assisted by Cook (52) and Owais Shah, who wore Wellington boots, just in case it rained.
Shah's wellies were instrumental in his dismissal, when he was run out on 57.
