New Zealand conceded defeat in the Second Cricket Test in Adelaide today but not before challenging their Australian opponents to a number of sporting sporting contests immediately following the conclusion of the Test Match.
The Kiwi captain refused to fully accept defeat until four contests were carried out in the following sports: rugby, boxing, running and tug-of-war. The Australian team reluctantly accepted the challenge and the contests were carried out on the oval that afternoon.
The Kiwis were successful in the Rugby game 22-12 however the Aussies were too powerful in the other matches.
The boxing event proved to be quite bloody with a number of Kiwis needing to be resuscitated after heavy punches.
The New Zealanders will now think of better contests to put forward for future test matches.
