The FIAye? (Ferrari International Association) today announced new rules today intended to increase crowd interest and attendance at future races.
In a move that will be introduced, ahead of schedule, at the Brazillian GP, any "home" driver will be able to win extra points and will be free from suffering any in-race sanctions from race stewards. "Home" race stewards will be free to use or ignore whatever rules they feel will increase local approval.
An official representative, Mr E. Nzo, stated that the move had been trialled at several GPs this season already with certain drivers being assigned "home" status in order to test the process.
