News From Singapore - Lewis Hamilton has sensationally been stripped of his podium position following a post-race investigation
Stewards have decided that Hamilton breached FIA regulations by overtaking in the dark. In an interview with the BBC, the chief steward Heinrich Muller said:
"In passing the Red Bull car of Coulthard on lap 42, Lewis acted in contravention of Rule 101 which states that 'a British driver must not overtake in the dark without first turning on his headlights and giving a clear indication of his intention to pass'. The Stewards have no option other than to impose an immediate 25 second penalty."
The decision means that Lewis has been dropped out of a points scoring position and will now take just a single point lead into the remaining three races.
Max Mosley was unavailable to comment on events, with his agent, Otto Himler, saying he was otherwise engaged.
