England boss Steve McLaren has dropped ball bender Beckham from the squad for the England qualifier against football giants Croatia this evening. In a statement McLaren revealed; "Beckham simply couldn't be selected, as when making the shirts we ran out of Bs and Es"

Darren Bentley was also dropped for similar reasons. In an outburst to TheSpoof.com, he declared "I like pie", and stamped his feet repeatedly chanting the above words in hushed, and slightly eerie tones.

England fans have had mixed reactions. Supporter Andy Dowley today remarked "I understand how this could have happened, Es are hard to come by when you are not in a London back street, but what i fail to comprehend, is why McClaren couldn't simply replace the B and E of Beckham for other letters, perhaps F and U, which are in plentiful supply, and for Bentley, why not C and U?"

Despite ideas as sound as this from supporters, McLaren has instead decided to drop the Midfielders in a baffling display of incompetence and lack of foresight.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
