Liverpool Football Club have hit a snag with their ambitions to build a new £280million stadium on Stanley Park in the city, and have come up with a new plan that is bound to anger their fans.
The Anfield club have received 'insider information' that their planning application for the new stadium is doomed to failure, and are now considering a groundshare option with their bitter city rivals, Everton at Goodison Park.
Unthinkable in years gone by, the fans of the two teams get on much better these days, and most of the old rivalry has disappeared thanks to football becoming a 'family game'.
New owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, who are 'Americans', are thought to have been the instigators of the idea, though many on Merseyside are sure to be opposed to such a revolutionary arrangement.
Liverpool supporter Jimmy Wachh, said:
"You've godda be jokin' haven' yer?"
Everton fans were of the same opinion. Terry McSpud, in an email to the club's website, wrote:
"Sharen' wit those dicheads? A'd rarder nick me own car!"
