Daragh Curley, the 10-year-old Manchester United 'fan' who wrote a letter to Liverpool boss, Jürgen Klopp, asking him if he could fix it for the Anfield club to lose a few games so that they might not win the Premier League title, has revealed that it wasn't him that put pen to paper, but his dad.
Daragh, who is just one of millions of United fans who have never been to Manchester, says the idea to write to Klopp was his father's, and, when the schoolboy refused point blank, Curley Snr. got busy.
First, he rummaged through Daragh's schoolbag, in order to find an exercise book with samples of the lad's handwriting. Then, he spent hours, going through several drafts, before the letter was perfected in the early hours of the morning.
Despite having received a very sporting reply from the Liverpool boss, Daragh was less than impressed. He said:
"My dad was over the moon, but it's only Jürgen Klopp. No big deal."
After news of the exchange of correspondence went viral, officials at Old Trafford acted swiftly to invite Daragh to watch a match at the stadium.
He said:
"It's great news, but I hope it's not against Liverpool. I fucking hate them."
