The Iranian squad showed some tenacity against Nigeria with the game ending in a draw. In a tough group, Iran was never fancied for achieving greatness but still showed that they could compete with the best.
It is for this reason that the Iranian World Cup Squad was given their country's highest honor. Officials in Tehran confirmed that the squad would be spared execution.
