A team bonding trip to the pub turned into chaos for Millwall after several players were caught up in a pub brawl. It's believed the brawl started when a fan compared defender Danny Shittu to Mark Lawrenson. Incredibly the team came out of the altercation relatively unscathed: the only casualty being Simeon Jackson. Jackson suffered a broken nose when a fan inserted a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale up it. The brawl culminated in Shittu poking a fan in the eye and then throwing him through the pub window.
Manager Ian Holloway admitted that there had been a small altercation but said it was just high spirits and nothing to worry about. When asked about Shittu's action Chairman John Berylson was not so lenient he said "I'm a strict disciplinarian and this will not go unpunished. Therefore I have instructed the manager to give him a bit of a ticking off on Monday.
