BOSTON - The Boston Celtics were founded in 1946, and since then they have managed to win a total of 17 NBA Championships.
Lately there has been a lot of talk from some of the loyal Celtics fans about changing the team name to a more modern sounding name.
Many of the younger fans have no Earthly idea what in the world a Celtic is.
Others say that the name is an old-fashioned one and is left over from the post World War II era.
Boston fans have sent text messages, emails, and made phone calls to team owner Wycliffe Grousbeck about changing the team name.
One loyal fan, identified as Volney Tuttlefox, 46, stated that he and his four teenage sons are season ticket holders and they would all like to see the name Celtics dropped.
Tuttlefox remarked that he has a perfect modern day name in mind. He commented that he and his four sons would like to see the Boston Celtics become the Boston iPods.
