David Moyes completed his first transfer window as Manchester United boss with the signing of Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini for £27.5 million on transfer deadline day.
As expected of a club of their stature, United had been linked with players around the world - including Ander Herrera (stayed at Athletico Bilbao) Cesc Fabregas (stayed at Barcelona) Gareth Bale (went to Madird for world record £86 million fee) Mesut Ozil (went to Arsenal after Madrid signed Bale)and David Mooney (lined up to replace Wayne Rooney, but stayed at Leyton Orient on new contract).
In the end, despite scouring the whole of Europe, Africa, Asia and Poundland, United managed to secure the signing of the Belgian international who was playing at the club down the road - formerly managed by Moyes.
The club failed in a double blue Scouse steal when full back Leighton Baines stayed put - 'left back in the dressing room' as the old joke goes.
