Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to rotate his squad around as Manchester United visit Stamford Bridge for the second time in four days for a Capital One League Cup match.
Sparks flied as the two teams met on Sunday in the Premier League. Chelsea went into the match unbeaten in the league, but were furious at refereeing decisions that saw them reduced to nine men and concede a disputed winning goal as United triumphed 3-2.
Fergie will definitely drop referee Mark Clattenburg, after Chelsea complained he made racist remarks to John Obi-Mikel and Juan Mata.
A united insider said "This is unusual. We normally expect Chelsea players to do the abusing rather than be on the end of it."
Howard Webb is poised to return to the side in a straight swap for Clattenburg, who will be rested until the Premier League have investigated the incident.
