Harry Redknapp shocked the world of football today by leaving his cushty job at Tottenham Hotspurs and declared he will move to Monaco to spend more time with his family.
After being overlooked for the England job - which he was installed as favourite for when Fabio Capello quit in February, Spurs suffered a slump in form and eventually missed out on Champions League football for next season, despite finishing in the top four - because Chelsea won the trophy and took the fourth English spot.
Negotiations between Harry and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy are believed to have focused on the length of the contract extension.
Harry told a friend this morning. "Bugger this for a game of tin soldiers - I'm off to Monaco - I'm taking the wife and Rosie my dog. Everything I need is there. Sun, sea, sand, subway and swiss bank account. I'm finished with football - well, until I run out of greenbacks or a managers job in Manchester comes up."
Early rumours are linking David Moyes from Everton with the role. Moyes is expected to bring in Russell Slade from Leyton Orient as his number 2.
