A top football expert refused to believe that the Manchester derby ended with City demolishing United 6-1.
"Give over. You're having a laugh, aren't you," said EIF News & Features sports editor Thelonious Adidas when he heard the result. "Go on, pull the other one."
The sports hack is likely to find himself in trouble with the news organisation for missing the game, which sees City installed as favourites the take the title from United.
"I know it looks bad," said Adidas. "I watched the first half, but come half time I was beginning to doze off. I had a late night last night and, well, after my lunch, the eyes just started to go.
"When I came to the missus was watching a film. 'Well,you fell asleep,' she told me. So I missed the second half.
"But 6-1 - don't be daft. I'll get the story later off the Ceefax. Anyway, I've got the QPR Chelsea game to worry about now."
