It was the major worry amongst health experts, the thing that they all feared would happen, and today, critically, it's happened - Swine Flu has mutated!
The virus that has caused so much trouble was named Swine Flu by health officials who had been responsible in the past for such clever and scientific names as Bird Flu and Spanish Flu.
Swine flu orignated in pigs, so it made sense to call it Swine Flu, and there you have it.
Well, not quite. This morning, it emerged from the headquarters of the World Health Organisation in Geneva, that the virus had mutated, and will henceforth be known as H1N1, or Hini Flu, to avoid any offence towards pigs.
In a separate development, Israeli Health Minister, Yakov Litzman, has said that the Swine Flu virus in his country has mutated even further. There, it is now known as Mexican Flu. Said Litzman:
"We will call it Mexican Flu. We won't call it swine flu. It is a strictly religious issue. We don't mind offending Mexicans, though."
