Spaniards now have a better understanding of why they are called great apes. At a recent conference of The Great Ape Association of Prime Primates, a ground breaking document was passed unanimously declaring Spaniards "part of the community of equals" with other primates.
Initially the orangutans lobbied against the inclusion of Spaniards because of their age old objectionable practice of bull fighting. But pressure from chimpanzee and proboscis parties prevailed.
The jungle shaking development seems to have arisen from Spain's special attention to the Great Ape Project and its long time affection for the Apes of Gibraltar. In a related development Spanish feminist activist groups confirmed the decision of the GAAPP: "We have been trying to tell all of the world that the Spanish macho is nothing more than a big ape!"
