Detroit, Michigan (IP) - Comet Holmes has suddenly brightened to negative 28 magnitude which is brighter than the sun.
The bright light emmitted by the comet only exists along a narrow swath which coincides with the same latitude as Detroit, Michigan. Observers looking north from just south of that zone report seeing a sort of distant and strange twighlight as if the sun were getting ready to rise.
People in Detroit and all along that latitude are getting sun tans that maybe are more appropriately called "comet tans" and others are having difficulty sleeping with such night time glare upsetting their biological clocks.
Scientists warn that the effects of this bright light which is one magnitude brighter than sun light is not known with complete certainty and residents should not allow themselves to be exposed to the light. They are warning people in the light zone to wear long sleeve shirts and even carry umbrellas to provide shade over their bodies. The scientist are also warning parents not to allow their children to be exposed to the light.
