Pasadena, California (IP) - Astronomers at the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) in Pasadena have announced the discovery of a new planet orbiting the star 55 Cancri in the constellation Cancer.
This is the fifth planet found orbiting this star and now astronomers think that there is a plethora of planets orbiting stars everywhere.
The unusual thing about this new planet is the high number of drive-in movie theaters and other phenomena found on Earth during the 1950's but found on the Exo-Planet now.
There are a large number of A & W Root Beer stands and other drive-in restaurants and diners everywhere. Just recently the Golden Arches made their first appearance and there are Royal Castle restaurants everywhere. Also present there are Lum's restaurants where they steam hot dogs in beer.
Reception of Cancri 55 TV broadcasts by Earth's scientists indicates that they are just now watching "Leave it to Beaver" episodes for the first time and also "Dennis the Menace" and "I Love Lucy". One scientist even reports intercepting a very rare episode of "Diver Dan".
One hypothesis put forward by Astronomer Anthropologist and Exo-Planetary Scientist Specialist Dr. Povenmire Q. Finootch outlines the proposition that going through the 1950's is just a natural state in the evolution of exo-planetary systems and so it should come as no surprise that we are observing this process as it unfolds on other planets.
If television shows like "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "I Spy", "Burkes Law", and "77 Sunset Strip" appear next in the sequence of television shows on Cancri 55 then Dr. Finootch's hypothesis may be considered to be something more advanced than a mere hypothesis.
A hypothesis that runs contrary to Dr. Finooth's states that the restaurant and TV show activity being observed now actually took place decades ago and because light and other wave forms from the planet are just now arriving on Earth after their long journey through space AND time that the illusion that we are seeing things unfold on the Exo-Planet in real time seems so vivid.
It is possible under this hypothesis that life may have been extinguised on Cancri 55 years ago either because of natural events like a meteor collision or nearby super nova activity or because of environmental strife and destruction or even due to nuclear war.
