Did it evolve five legs? No. One was pulled off for the purpose of this picture

Intelligent Design, the misguided collection of anti-science collaborators, have finally laid out their reasons for thinking that evolution is not science.

"Science is the constant revising of cherished theories based on new evidence that comes in," said Michael Beye, the author of several best selling books aimed at people who cannot think for themselves. "If you take gravity, as an example, something we are all aware of, the equations governing it were originally created by Isaac Newton. As more evidence came in, these had to be revised, and were done so by Albert Einstein. That's science, that is."

According to the ID movement, evolution never takes into account changing information, staying stubbornly intact in the face of new evidence.

"When a new fossil is found," said Beye, "do they change their infrastructure? They do not. They fit it into their ludicrous theory. Dinosaurs to birds? Easy. Fish to frogs? Simple. Why bees co-operate? Well, that's got them stumped. Doesn't really fit, so they've 'not found the mechanism yet'. It's the same every time."

Beye claims that instead of just admitting that evolution is obviously bunk because it doesn't have all the answers, evolutionists just plough on.

"If you look at all the other sciences," said Beye, "they are complete. You ask any question, they give always give an answer. With the obvious exception of materials science, quantum theory, geology, ecology, psychology, chemistry, metallurgy and medicine. Oh, and cosmology, nuclear physics, magnetism, sociology, botany, zoology and information theory."

Beye believes that evolution should stop pretending to be in the same class as science and stop asking silly questions and trying to come up with ever more ridiculous answers.

"Even if evolution could possibly be right," said Beye, "what use is it? Apart from the invention of genetics, stem cell therapy, avoiding extinction events and understanding our place in the scheme of things? It's pointless really, and should have all funding cut. Surely it is easier to accept that there is a great and glorious God, er, Designer that selects each of the trillions of chemical interactions ever second that go up to making the glorious diversity of life on Earth; ensuring each one happens flawlessly? That must be easier to believe."

Richard Dawkins wouldn't be drawn on the latest tirade, except to say: "Sigh."

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
