Republican Senator Mitch McConnell says let the blue states declare bankruptcy. Or no bailout for blue states. Blue states are Democratic states. Red states are Republican states.
McConnell represents the state of Kentucky. Kentucky is a red state, with a population of 4.468, and McConnell has the grandiose idea of being a “Daddy” Warbucks character from Little Orphan Annie.
Not so fast, Warbucks.
Kentucky is supported with revenue (or money as in tax dollars) from blue states like New York and California. And Warbucks doesn’t want to do any payback and supplement blue states during this pandemic.
Regardless of the politics, both blue and red states have people who are in quarantine, can’t go to work, some are even sick with coronavirus, aren’t receiving a paycheck, and need money to put food on the table.
McConnell is using food on a table as a negotiable instrument. Food in America can never be used as a negotiable instrument. It is immoral and only done by a tyrant. America is not a tyranny, Warbucks. Yet.
But McConnell says, “Let the blue states declare bankruptcy!”
At least he didn’t say, “Let them eat cake.”
One thing to remember: blue state New York pays $26.6 billion to the federal government; red-state Kentucky pays $12,660,855.
