Manchester City made a clear declaration of intent last night as they went walkabout in the darkest wilds of Blackburn, beating aside all manner of attacks from woolly backed, flat cap and muffler wearing ferret toting Blackburnianites.
It was just a football match.
Nobody really bothered to tune in to Sky Sports to watch it because it clashed with Corrie and Ade Edmondson messing about with sheep in the dales.
But apparently City won, by a 1-0 margin.
With a goal from Edin Dzeko. And not before time. Lazy bastard.
Seems it doesn't really matter what the noisy neighbours do, or how much Mike Summerbee bigs them up, they're just not that interesting.
Take 1968 for example - City clinched the league title at St James Park with a dramatic 4-3 victory as United succumbed to Sunderland on the same day.
A few days later, United won the European Cup - THE BIG ONE.
As they seem so fond of singing "The City Is Ours" with an accompanying line advising United fans to go back to London, including a deleted expletive, they ought to cast their minds back and remember.
35 years...
Boy, them 'Munichs' are a pain in the arse, aren't they?
It seems that you really can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people, all of the time.
Even with the Burnage hillbilly boys out of Oasis acting as spokesmen...
You ain't won nothing yet...
The odds on that Stretford End banner reaching 36 stand at 1/3 on.
Nobody cares. Least of all us Munichs.
