LONDON - Queen Elizabeth will be celebrating her 85th birthday on April 21. Reports coming out of Buckingham Palace state that when Prince Philip asked his wife what she wanted for her birthday she replied for him to surprise her.

At first Philip figured that he would buy her a brand new yacht, but then he realized that she had not used the one he bought for her back in 1995.

He then thought about purchasing tickets to the 2011 Major League Baseball World Series. But he quickly squashed that idea since he remembered that Beth did not know the difference between a catcher's mitt and a first baseman's glove.

Phil next thought about taking her on an Indian Ocean cruise but then he remembered that the Indian Ocean was still brimming with those crazed high seas pirates.

So he figured that he would give her something that he has never in their 64 years of marriage ever given her...a puppy.

And so the prince called up his grandsons William and Harry and they drove over to Sir Sidwell Smedley's House of Pets in Waterloo.

Sir Sidwell showed the prince about two dozen dogs including four that were named Prince, three that were named King, one that was named Queenie, and one that was named Charlie Watts, after the Rolling Stones drummer.

Harry liked Queenie, but Philip and William liked Charlie Watts and so the Prince paid Sir Sidwell £165 [$270 U.S.].

Philip asked William if he could keep Charlie Watts at his house until Beth's birthday. He replied that it would be fine with him but that he needed to check with Kate (Middleton) first.

In a related story. Ta Ta For Now News is reporting that when Queen Elizabeth, who is a big fan of American Idol, heard about Pia Toscano being eliminated from the show she personally called her up and invited her and her mother to the Royal Wedding.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
