Ode to an 8-Legged Being

Wading by a reef
Child in Hawaii it was so sweet
When what did I do spy?
But a young octopus so shy

Backed into to its little hole
A straw from beach I did find, stole
Stuck into the odd shaped bowl
Blew some air then freaked out whole

When out there popped a leg
Numerous grippers grabbed me haste
But little more and it did chase
The air out 'cause of manmade daze

Then I romped about
Screaming can I eat it cooked takeout?
I was hungry for the lout
Got no answers and a shout

Threw it back, no karma clout
