Ayrshire's Jai McDowall, surprise winner of 2011's Britain's Got Talent, has been at the wrong end of a strong reaction from Scottish viewers.
Thousands of furious Scots last night jammed the switchboards and social media websites, all protesting at the image of Scotland the 24 year old support worker had projected.
99% of the callers called McDowall a "disgrace" and claimed that he had "brought shame to the country".
Another complained "What kind of impression does he want to create ? What chance have we Scots of maintaining our stereotypical image of being hard drinking, foul mouthed louts when some no mark that looks after folk with learning disabilities wins a competition by singing girlie songs ?"
Others have called upon First Minister Alex Salmond to pass a No Confidence Motion in Simon Cowell and to demand an immediate reversal of the result, enabling hot favourite Ronan Parke to be declared the winner.
"We don't mind the English being tarred with the big girls' blouse brush , but not us Scots.
"We're made of sterner stuff".
