The gorgeous and psyche-minded Nicole Kidman.

WASHINGTON -Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman says she didn't go far to research her role as a psychiatrist for the upcoming movie, The Visiting because psychotherapy has been a part of her life all of her life.

"I have a father who is a psychologist, a brother who is a psychiatrist, a sister who goes to a psychologist, a mother who wants to be a psychiatrist, two friends who can spell ‘psychiatric' and I memorized Sally Fields' role in Sybil. So, my life filled with ‘psyches'," the actress says in a recent interview that won't be published.

Unlike her ex-husband Tom Cruise, who says he doesn't believe in psychiatry, Kidman says she thinks psychiatry is a worthwhile profession that offers a person a tremendous salary. Cruise knows it pays well, but is a follower of Scientology, a religion that critics say feels Sigmund Freud was a fraud.

"Fraud was his real name," says a Scientology official who spoke under the condition of anonymity. "But he changed it to Freud because of his name."

When we ask if Scientology has its own form of psychiatry, the official says, "Yes and no. Mostly no. But sometimes yes. It's according to what is happening at the time and who it is happening to and if that person is in need of some form of it, whatever it is."

Meanwhile, Kidman is more and more into the subject. Her latest movie is only the beginning of a string of films Kidman will do related to psychiatry.

She will play a psychiatrist's wife in The Psychiatrist's Wife, a title role.

Then she will play opposite Tommy Lee Jones, who portrays a psychiatrist with a bum leg in To Lame To Run. In that one she plays a therapist to the psychiatrist.

Next, she will play Freud's daughter in Sig's Way, a musical based on Freud's many mouth-cancer operations.

She follows that up playing Clint Eastwood's girlfriend in Wood Salvage, the story of a female psychiatrist who manages a whorehouse for her patients in a lonesome desert town in the late 1930s.

In 2007, Kidman is directing as well as starring in The Id And The Ego, a film with only two actors in it. Kidman is one of them and the other is yet to be announced, although the buzz around town is that the other actor is either Nick Nolte, Andy Griffith, Jack Nicholson, Jacob Dylan or Montel Williams.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
